About Tim Peoples
I started medical writing in 2005 after graduating with a BA in English. This position kicked off a career that continued with my MA in Literature and full-time roles at Medtronic and Amgen. I spent about 6 years at Medtronic and 10 years at Amgen, and my remit included a wide diversity of products and therapeutic areas. I made Tuxedo Cat Medical Writing my full-time job in January 2025. I also studied counselling theory at Massey University in 2025 to extend my lifelong interest in mental healthcare and completed a Postgraduate Diploma.

Because Work Is the Least Interesting Thing About Me...
I grew up in the United States. I immigrated to New Zealand in 2019 and became a naturalised citizen in 2024.
Outside of work, I am a parent and keeper of multiple obsessions. I love cats more than you already think I do. I am a Nintendo gamer; lots of hours logged in Zelda and Pokémon. I cook ramen from scratch. You might see me at the Auckland Armageddon Expo twice a year, looking for more issues of MAD Magazine and Love and Rockets. I support the Northern Mystics and Silver Ferns literally whenever it is possible to do so. Lots of podcasts, especially those that are composed of fragments from fictional worlds.
I try to be a little chaotic to balance out the whole "bringing clarity to scientific communications" part of my life.
